We
offer a small-school atmosphere with big-school opportunities: arts,
activities and a dedicated staff, to mention a few. In a quiet rural
setting, Prairie Farm focuses on academics, the arts and all-around wellness. We
offer a comprehensive personalized learning environment as teachers
implement assessment-driven and small group instruction frameworks.
Community members volunteer to tutor and read to our students, while
active parents plan events, raise funds. Dedicated music, art and
physical education specialists help make the most of each day. many
regular field trips are planned to provide outside opportunities. A
brand new playground offers a great opportunity for our students to
enjoy friends and be active in an outdoor setting.
Technology
We
strive to developing 21st Century competencies by supporting students
with the technology and opportunities that will enhance inquiry skills,
collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Students in
grades 4-5 will have access to 1:1 technology providing for more
opportunities for project-based learning. We utilize our technology
resources to enhance the learning environment. Each classroom is
outfitted with 8 Ipads, a Smartboard, and various other technology
enhancements. Our updated computer lab, mobile Ipad and laptop carts
provide exceptional learning tools.
Curriculum
PFES
curriculum incorporates experiences that build students' skills in
critical thinking, problem solving, questioning strategies, reasoning,
and creative expression. Other features of Prairie Farm Elementary
School include strong parent and community involvement, and student
events in music, art, and physical education.

Exceeds
Expectations! PFES has been ranked as one of the top elementary schools
in the area on the WI DPI Report Cards. This score is based on the WKCE
Assessment, which includes both a math and a reading component taken by
students in grades 3 through 5 our results. Grade 4 also is tested in
the area of Social Studies and Science.
Events
PFES
has all-school events for parents and community members such as Open
House, Dr. Seuss Reading Event, Grandparents Day, Student Showcases, End
of the Year Celebration, Student concerts, and more.
Educational Description
The
school is organized as a traditional PreK-5 school with self-contained
classrooms. Students are provided with specialized instruction in vocal
and instrumental music, physical education and art. Students with
learning disabilities and those who are learning English as their second
language receive individualized instruction as needed from the E.L.L.
and Special Education Departments. Our Gifted and Talented Coordinator
and many parent volunteers provide higher level instructions to small
groups from various grade levels.
